"Self-Sabotage contains of the negative behaviors which people engage in when they feel an unconscious ambivalence about achieving their goals. It could be very easy to become attached to personal dreams, in which because they are perfect. Some life coaches have stated that, as the prospect of actually living the dream with the possibility of disillusionment---come closer, it would be very common for people to retreat into procrastination."
Some far-fetched regulations need to be established in order not to fall back, or I should say, be trapped in the abyss of post-disillusionment sorrow:
Time Awareness:
Many low-self-esteem people live in three-of-five day bubble of awareness. For instance, college life is built around last-minute preparation, that is, writing a term paper the night before the due, cramming for tests, etc. Unless he or she extends his or her time awareness, anyone will struggle with the process of procrastination through the chances of failure or success.
Own Commitment:
As for me, the commitment to my medical school education starts with my commitment to the application process as well as my support team, which consists of life mentors and informal advisors who have promised to guide me with their input. A wave of relief, which is "someone is going to help me!" results in a feeling that they have permission to procrastinate. I may have the very best intentions, but balancing school, jobs and family obligations can make it easy to put off work I should have proceeded. I should have avoided this mistake by sticking firmly to all deadlines set by me.
Assurance:
It is important to comprehend that any challenge can be emotionally risky. When anyone realize that he or she is finally going to be physically on the steps of accomplishment, more often than not, he or she will unconsciously sabotage the process. Stay vigilant; even though anyone may feel like nothing will be succeeded, keep working on the materials.
Fake Delays:
I often heard this from myself, "I'll just work on this one for one more day," which turns into two months of worry and uncertainty. The obsessive desire to tweak the moment of success actually reduces the chances of accomplishments.
"Let's face it, the physical action is scary," Anticipate the fears will come up, and do not let them interfere with own goal. Stay on tasks, stay proactive with all the resources of support.
Catastrophe:
A bad grade, breaking up with lovers, wedding plans, etc. These life events sometimes are chaos that falsely forcing life plan postponed indefinitely. There is no question that setbacks and responsibilities to loved ones sometimes necessitate that you put off tasks of purposes, but, after all, they are external drama. In anyone's heart, there is difference among them.
Passivity:
To "go passive" means to skip meeting with advisors, default on self-imposed writing assignment, decide to "take a break" or any other act of avoidance that delays the process of accomplishment. The only problem that your supporting team cannot solve is the one they do not know about. If anyone finds himself or herself frustrated by the quality of the support provided., it is frequently because of own unconscious expectations that are not being fulfilled. No one can read your mind. Talk openly with the support team about this. Concerns of this nature can be usually solved with the requests of saying "would you please help me with...?"
Self-Listening:
When anyone commits to fully listening to self, anyone can rediscover the original dedication to living of passion for purpose, once anyone does that, the motive of discarding resignation, procrastination and limitation will be replaced. |
