Dad and mom are leaning towards the small operation to cut a small hole on her throat. Supposedly per the nurse, the cut/opening on her throat will be smaller than the head of a pencil, which I guess is good. The bad uncles are in a rush to authorize the surgery, but we'll all talk to the primary doctor tomorrow to get a better understanding of the procedure/outcome. The hole is mainly used to help clean her nuggie when it develops in her throat. Currently to clean her nuggie, they are sucking it out from the tubes in her mouth, which have a higher potential to create an infection in her mouth. Having a separate tube in the throat will supposedly make the cleansing more efficient and will not cause a mouth infection during the process of sucking out her nuggie.
