From coast to coast, and from sea to sea; over 5 hours of plane ride, and across 3 hours of time gap; I traversed some 2600 miles eastward only to arrive in an icy, ultra-chilly New York....what a great reception it was, I thought. Never have I felt so cold in my life before, the -8 degree celsius bit my ears so relentlessly that I could hardly feel their presence on my face. White, snowy white. This is the most fitting description I could come up with for this amazing city. But it is not to say that there isn't anything negative about the city. And it can be clearly illustrated by the incident surrounding the cab/taxi. It turned out that there are TWO kinds of cab/taxi --- the Yellow Cab and the delivery cab (which is black in color). Being an untactful person like me, I unwittingly opted to CALL for a delivery cab instead of WAVING for a Yellow Cab. The result? I was so totally ripped off by da driver. Why? cuz delivery cab has no meter and could charge wateva fee they desire (Yellow cab has meter). Since I innocently hopped onto the delivery cab without negotiating the "delivery fee" in the first place, I was overcharged. Worse, the thought of bargaining for lower fee simply did not strike my 'wonderful college-educated' mind. That was quite a painful lesson, you really gotta be street smart in NYC....Needless to say, I failed miserably on the HOW-STREET-SMART-R-U Quotient (HSSRUQ = 0 ) . Plus, I should have taken public transport anyway, duh. But on the lighter note, New York never fails to fascinate me with her vivacity and grandeur. I really hope that, should I have to leave my beloved Cali. for the next four years, NY would be my destination. Hey, why not! . On a totally different note, I had made an interesting observation that further consolidated my original belief about Persian ladies. That they are truly impressive individuals among the females. This is so far based on my scarce friendship and chanced encounters with the Persian ladies. Btw, during my round trip flights, I finally get to see Jeanette Lee 李珍娜 & Jennifer Chen 陳純甄 in action for the professional cuetec tournament!! I have always been proud of them (especially Jennifer since she is Taiwanese!) cuz they are highly ranked Asian pool players in the world (both used to occupy #1 spot in the past). Anyway, nothing beats a brief getaway from the school, though school has only just started . I am already looking forward to a funfilled spring break...man, am I thinking too far ahead or wut....haha
