We skipped the light Fandango
Turned cartwheels across the floor
I was feeling kind of seasick
But the crowd called out for more

2. the miller 儘管 A Whiter Shade of Pale 的作詞者 Keith Reid 說他這輩子從未讀過「坎特伯里故事集( The Canterbury Tales )」，也否認這裡的”the miller”和故事裡的磨坊主人有任何關係，但若是了解磨坊主人說的故事後，就不難理解為何不少人喜歡把兩者聯想在一起。
5. mermaid 在荷馬史詩 Odysseus 裡將美人魚描述為專門用美妙的歌聲讓船隻撞礁，或是引誘年輕男子以保持自己靈魂不凋的危險不祥的生物，因此美人魚在文學裡，大部份是具有性的象徵，例如 T. S. Eliot 的 名詩" The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock "第124行的 ' I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each '。另外相傳美人魚對水手而言也是不祥之物，看見她們必會發生船難。
