Ann Marie Reeves Jarvis was born in the U.S. in 1832. She,with great sympathy (同情心),decided to do something for people who were i, difficult situations. For instance, she formed clubs for woman during the 1850s. The clubs raised money to buy medicine and helped families that had sick mothers. After the American Civil War,Mrs.Jarvis also planned a "Mosther’s Friendship Day" to promote (促進) Peace and friendship. The idea was a hit and then because an annual event for a few years.
Mrs.Jarvis died on May 9,1905. Her daughter,Anna,then wanted to have a special day to honor her mother and other mothers. Therefore,in 1907,Anna help her first celebration for mothers in the church,giving a carnation (康乃馨) to every mother who went there. After that,Anna was continuing to work hard to make Mother’s Day official. Finally,in 1914, the first national Mother’s Day was celebrated on the second Sunday of May in the U.S.
